AKTIVITI: BENGKEL ASAS ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2013

Pada hari Sabtu 16/03/2013 yang lalu, Jabatan Matematik, Sains dan Komputer telah menganjurkan satu bengkel asas aplikasi Adobe Photoshop di Makmal Glab1 dan ACAD4. Kepakaran pensyarah JMSK sendiri iaitu En. Abdul Aziz Ikhwan Ab Wahab dan En. Khairul Faizal Abdul Hamid bagi menjayakan bengkel ini. Kehadiran pelajar dari semester akhir (Program Kejuruteraan sahaja) amatlah mengalakkan. Kira-kira 80 orang pelajar telah menghadiri bengkel ini dengan rasa penuh semangat. Rata - rata pelajar menunjukkan minat yang sangat tinggi untuk menguasai asas-asas suntingan mengunakan Adebe Phostoshop ini. Kehadiran Ketua Kursus Matematik Pn. Marina Majid bagi merasmi tutup bengkel ini adalah sebagai wakil kepada Ketua Jabatan JMSK. 

Eksplorasi Peta Minda Sains Kejuruteraan

On Saturday 23.02.2013, Department of Mathematics, Science and Computer  PSMZA has organized a programme to help student in their study respectively in making a short or summaries  note from lecture note. As many of 140 junior student admitted to this one day program, they have participate with a lot of excitement and fun during the activity of making their own mind map. This program has been conducted by Mdm. Noor Rulhanim Ariffin and helped by others lectures as facilitators.

 

BA202 : DOES INFINITY COUNTABLE?

Dear student,

Our last class we do a lot of discussion on a set of Numbers. All numbers are infinity...such as the Positive Integer I = {1,2,3,4....} and so with the Natural number N= {0,1,2,3....}. But both Integer and Natural Number can be listed so we call it the countable infinity.

In other hand, decimal number cannot be listed......even you try to list a decimal number from 0 to 1, therefore, we call that decimal numbers are uncountable infinity. So did you get the idea? try to find another set of number which can be classify as uncountable infinity....

INFO: OBE IN ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS COURSE

On 3rd and 4th of July 2012, a course about implementation of OBE (Outcome Based Education) in Engineering Mathematics is held with cooperation between PKT and PSMZA. Experience instructors from UniMAP are invited to conduct the 2 days course which held here in PSMZA. Now days, OBE not only should be understand by lecturers, students also have to understand what is OBE are about. OBE is an education model emphasis on outcome of the teaching and more to student oriented. Student is encourage to be more independent while lecturers will be the facilitators. There are 9 domains or area of outcome based education (learning domain):

1. Knowledge
2. Practical skills
3. Communication skills
4. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
5. Social skills and Responsibilities

OFFICIAL VISIT TO UTHM, JOHORE

The last 25th May 2012, My fellow colleague and I went to a visit to UTHM located at Parit Raja, Johore. For your information, UTHM has a great relation with Malaysian Polytechnics since the establishment of PLSP (Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik) on a perviously known deserted campus of Politeknik Batu Pahat. Time by time this institute has grown rapidly and become now day Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia. The campus has expanded to a larger campus suite for a University. 

As an alumnus, I was intrigue to visit and recall all the old memories of my undergraduate study. Main purpose of this visit is to discuss a problems face by the Polytechnic Graduate whose now pursue their degree in engineering or technology, specifically the noticeable under performance in Mathematics. UTHM lecturer aware that polytechnic graduate are less competent compare to Matriculation and STPM entry students. A dialogue between JMSK and FSTHD Lecturers ware held to conveys this problems and seeking the solution action for both as pre and post act. A resolution has made and agreed that Polytechnic has to enhance the teaching of Mathematics interm of instructional and syllabus content revision. UTHM lecturer also share that there is 4 factor affecting Polytechnic students: 

1. Self Attitude - late to class, skip class.
2. Study strategy - no proper study strategy, spoon fed 
3. Personality - lack communication in class- passive 
4. Identity crisis - no aims, no determination.

Just to let you know, our PSMZA softball team manages to secure a Silver Medal (boys team) and Bronze Medal (girls team). I was proud that our student has shown an excellent play and teamworks. Hope for the next edition, Gold will be our.
